Smart Economic Development hearing

The House Committee on Economic Development and Business will hear several important bills related to smart economic development in Hawaiʻi. Please submit testimony in support of the following bills, either individually, or by sending general testimony to EDBTesimony@capitol.hawaii.gov.

HB 19: Authorizes the organization of low-profit limited liability companies as business entities for the accomplishment of charitable or educational purposes and not for the significant purpose of production of income or appreciation of property. Submit testimony.

HB 1039: Amends section 201-113, Hawaii Revised Statutes, to expand funding sources to support creative industries development within the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism; and repeals sections 201-111, 201-112, and 201-114, Hawaii Revised Statutes. Submit testimony.

HB 1330: Establishes common interest agricultural communities. Submit testimony.

HB 1475, HD1: Permits farmers' markets and food hubs on lands in an agricultural district. Submit testimony.

HB 1572, HD1: Establishes the Hawaiʻi Economic Security Working Group within DBEDT to analyze and make recommendations regarding economic health and stability in light of future automation, globalization, and disruptive innovation. Submit testimony.

HB 599, Proposed HD1: Makes the goal of the State to provide housing to households with extremely low- to above moderate- income households.  Makes a technical amendment to the state goals of the Hawaiʻi State Planning Act. Submit testimony.
