Public Safety Budget Meeting

  • Hawaii State Capitol Room 211 415 South Beretania Street Honolulu, HI, 96813 United States (map)

The Ige administration seems determined to build a new jail, despite the fact that policy experts, community members and justice advocates have made it clear that funding restorative and community-based justice programming and initiatives would reduce the jailed population by enough to render such a huge use of public tax dollars unnecessary. Public testimony will not be accepted at the budget meeting. However, even a small group of people holding signs, in silent protest to building a new, bigger jail, will remind our Legislators of the voice of our community.
